Electric Heaters for Preheating Lube Oil Main Engine Separators

Navkratis delivered 13 electric heaters of 27 KW to a major ship management company based in Limassol, Cyprus that was requesting a solution for the preheating of lube oil before the purifier in case boiler is not in operation and therefore the existing steam heater can’t be used.

The process:

Basically the idea was that in SECA the client has no need for the boiler and wants to still run ME LO Px without need for steam. The main technical specifications of this project provided by client for designing & customizing the electric heaters were the following:

  • Lube Oil Flow around 1000L  per hour,
  • delta T 45 degC,
  • max outlet temperature 90 degC

Our electric heaters will be installed in parallel with the existing steam heaters so that to be used only when this is needed by the crew with few modifications on the lube oil piping system. They  are designed to work with high viscosity crude oils and water when there is no other heating medium available. The marine type EH series shell & tube heat exchangers are primarily used as initial or extra heating of LUBE OIL or FUEL OIL or WATER in ships. Their flexible design and wide heat range (from 9 kW to 225kW) makes them well suited for any application where backup or booster heating is required or where electric power is the cheapest or the only available power source.

The main features of the new series Electrical heaters are the following:

  • Long life removable ceramic core heating elements are designed for optimum trouble-free service and ease of maintenance. A failed electric element can be replaced without the need to isolate and drain the heater.
  • Pump Interlock function as a standard.
  • All Electric Heaters from EH range are fitted with an adjustable temperature controller (with PT-100 temperature sensor) and an overheating thermostat.
  • Materials, Carbon steel and SS316 only from Top European manufacturers.
  • Warranty 24 months after delivery.
  • Delivery within 2-4 weeks from order receipt.
  • Quality means safety. Each unit built undergoes hydraulic and electric testing.
  • All electric heaters are compliant with European Legislation covering CE markings/PED approval and can be certified by various classification societies (ABS, BV, LR) upon request.
